Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

February 2nd, 2003

I went and saw Confessions of a Dangerous Mind on Saturday night. I had not heard much about the film prior to seeing it so I went with an open mind. The movie is based on the autobiography of Chuck Barris and details his exploits as both a television producer and a contract hitman for the CIA. I am to young to remember the various programs that Chuck Barris brought to television during the 60’s and 70’s.

I was surprised by this movie. Had I known what it was about I probably would not have seen it. That said I did enjoy it. The story of his life is interesting as it tells the tale of an ordinary man who wants to have a meaningful and important life. The viewer is left to wonder if his claim to be a contract killer has some truth to it or if it merely a fabrication of a delusional and paranoid man.

Probably neither, just an entertaining fictional story. But on the CIA note, I was reading an article that discusses this movie, the cold war, the cia, and the current war that’s brewing. It’s at http://www.thesimon.com/article_of_week/ Real food for thought.

Thanks for the link. The article presents an interesting interpretation of the film contrasted against the current day events.
