We caught a screening of Hollywood Homicide over at Kenedy last Sunday. I didn’t expect much since this looked to be your typical buddy cop comedy but for two bucks it was worth a shot for an evening of entertainment. It was remarkably average on all accounts but it did provide a few laughs and an opportunity to prolong the weekend.

I saw over at Geek Roar that the full trailer for Underworld has been released. This actually looks like a decent vampire / werewolf movie with some great action / cinematography. Fortunately September isn’t too far away

We are in the middle of a heat wave here in the Portland / Vancouver area with temperatures breaking 100 degrees. I’ve come to the realization that this isn’t a good time to own a convertible with a black interior and no AC. Not having AC at home has made things rather miserable as well. Fortunately things should be back to normal in a few days.

Our house continues to progress. This week the sub flooring was finished, the cabinets installed, garage door hung, and interior walls textured. On the outside the slabs for the front and side patios were poured in addition to the front sidewalk. Here is the site of our house as of 7/23.

Heather and I indulged in a few hours of escapism and saw Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life on Saturday. As expected the movie was light on plot and essentially was a big budget episode of Relic Hunter sans the requisite secret society - granted Lara Croft foiled the Illuminati’s plans in the prior film. This time around Lara is off to find Pandora’s box and practices her patented method of archeology which consists mostly of destroying ancient things. For this go-round there were less amazingly sophisticated traps / puzzles built by ancient people and instead lots of action / stunts. Unfortunately the action sequences weren’t terribly exciting nor were the stunts amazing.
This movie most likely won’t win any awards but it did provide a few hours of mindless entertainment.

Adam sent me a link to this fan made short which I have to say is more interesting and imaginative than Batman & Robin was. For an independent work the production values and cinematography were excellent.

I just found out that Rick, one of my coworkers and the Wisconsin commissioner of Clan MacFarlane, is getting married. Congratulations to Rick & Jennifer - I wish you both the best.

I’ve noticed that this entry I wrote about Terminator 3 back on December 17 has been getting several comments lately now that the film is in wide release. I went and saw the film shortly after it opened and left with mixed feelings about it. In a lot of ways it reminded me of Highlander 3 - essentially an inferior retread of the earlier films which doesn’t cover much new ground.
