Insurance oddities

I met with our insurance agent today to discuss terminating my renter’s policy and getting a home owner’s policy. This is one of the 10 million things I have been putting off that needs to be done in preparation for the closing on our new home. When I arrived at the office I was surprised to find I have a new agent. He explained my prior agent “left the business” and he was going to try to meet or exceeded the level of service I was given. He seemed a bit taken back when I explained to him how useless my prior agent was and how I thought it should be quite easy for him to exceed that level of service.

Our House (8/24/03)

Some more detail work was completed this week. The sales office was kind enough to lend me a key so I could take some interior pictures. While I was out there I met with our mortgage banker and talked through all the things I need to get together so we can close. He is going to start drawing up the papers this week and it looks like the inspections & closing will take place in early September.

Here is the site of our house as of 8/24.

Tarantino’s fourth

The trailer for Kill Bill looks fantastic. I am disappointed to see that it is going to follow the recent Hollywood trend of churning out cliffhangers - first Reloaded now this.

Walking her down the isle

Four years ago today I gave the bride away at Jonah and Tomomi’s wedding. Since I can’t be there in person to congratulate you both I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you the best. I hope you find your married life together as happy as Heather and I do.

Matrix Revolutions trailer

I caught on /. that the Matrix Revolutions international trailer was released. It shows a bit more that was given away by the teaser at the end of Reloaded. I am curious to see how the Wachowski’s wrap up the story and if my earlier thoughts about a matrix within a matrix pan out.

I guess we will see on November 5th.

A long time ago on planet Zeist

I came across this review that eloquently elaborates on why Highlander 2 is arguably one of the most disappointing movies of all time.

Our House (8/17/03)

This week it looks as if the interior was painted (we didn’t go inside because it was locked), the bathroom fixtures were installed, and the upstairs carpets put in. The fence around our patio was erected. Some of the detail work such as the interior molding and exterior details like our address number were also completed. It is scary to think in a few more weeks there won’t be anything left to do but move. :)

Here is the site of our house as of 8/17.

Call me Mr. Goodwrench

Today while we were driving out to look at the house Heather’s driver side mirror fell off her truck. Fortunate for us this kind of thing must happen rather often since the local auto parts store had a replacement in stock.

Facelift

I took some time this evening to give my blog a much needed face lift by tweaking my stylesheet. I’m just starting to learn CSS so I borrowed pretty heavily from the design of ~stevenf (thanks!) which I think looks fantastic. As I continue to learn what I can do with CSS I’ll probably make some more tweaks to it over time. Overall it is a remarkable improvement over the default MT Clean stylesheet I was using earlier.

Paycheck

I saw on /. that there is going to be a movie based on Philip K. Dick’s short story Paycheck. While on vacation I read a collected work of Dick’s short stories and I thought Paycheck had a pretty interesting premise (I liked the Hanging Stranger too). After viewing the trailer I’m interested in seeing the film - hopefully Hollywood won’t do too bad of a hatchet job on the adaptation.
