I don’t feel the ending is abrupt at all, I think its well planned and the break of the movies sections totally enhances the movie, which was Tarantinos goal and his decision.

Kill Bill comes out here in Japan this Saturday and I can’t wait to see it. I never was a big fan of Uma Thurman, but it looks like she kicks ass in this movie so I’ll just have to wait and see.

@Jonah: You can look forward to an extra level of gore as well, since the violence standards in place in Japan for movies aren’t as high as those in the US.

For example, during the Battle at the House (Inn?) of the Blue Leaves, much of The Bride’s fight against the Crazy 88 is in black & white to tone down the level of gore; in Japan, those scenes are in full color. I’m hoping when they release the two volumes on DVD in the US there’ll be either an option or an edition to view an unrated version.

Also: the soundtrack in this movie is awesome. My favorite piece would have to be “Battle Without Honor Or Humanity” by Tomoyasu Hotei — it’s the piece used in the trailers, and in the actual movie during the slow-mo walking scene that Lucy Liu gets prior to Uma’s arrival.
