I read over at Neowin that today Microsoft has released a new version of Services for Unix and now offers it as a free download.
Like Cygwin, SFU provides a “Unix-like” environment for Windows providing a real shell to work with and all of the typical GNU tools. Interop Systems (developers of the Interix technology which SFU is based upon) offers a host of ported software here. I was first introduced to the product back at the 2002 Server DevCon and after sitting through a technology talk and product demo I was impressed.
