Heather and I saw Blade Trinity this afternoon. My short synopsis: longest & dumbest iPod commercial ever.
Honestly I wasn’t expecting much from this film but after sitting through a screening I am amazed at how much it sucked. Basically you have Blade, Van Wilder, and that girl from 7th Heaven fighting against some generic villians. The plot is unremarkable making the prior two Blade films look like masterpieces of film in comparison. Between iPod product placements the viewer is left with some lackluster action sequences and a rather uninspired plot. The bad guys resurrect (or reawaken the film isn’t exactly clear) Dracula and setup Blade. Blade is pursued by the FBI. The good guys decide they want to rehash V and try and kill off all the Vampires. True to movie villain form Dracula proceeds to squander the opportunity to kill Blade and crew several times. Whistler gets to die again. After a few pointless iPod demonstrations Blade and Dracula have their final showdown. *YAWN* I would have been disappointed if I hadn’t expected this movie to be such a turd.
This wasn’t the worst film I saw this year – something I will write about later – but there was undoubtibly something better we could have saw. I can’t help but wonder if the upcoming adaptation of Elektra will also suck so bad?
