Life in pictures
While cleaning up my hard drive this evening I came across a bunch of pictures from last year that I never got around to posting in our gallery.

Since I use a number of different computers on a daily basis I’ve been wanting a decent solution to keep bookmarks in sync between the various platforms & browsers I use. A few weeks ago I came across SiteBar which is a server-side bookmark manager that can run in the sidebar of your browser of choice. The install was simple and after only a few minutes I had it up and running. After using it for a few weeks I have to say it rocks.
I setup a copy of it here on spendy.org.
Now if I could only figure out how to integrate it with safari or camino I’d be happy ![]()
Today Heather graduated from Western Culinary Institute.

Congratulations sweetie I’m proud of you and I love you!

Heather and I caught a matinee of House of Flying Daggers earlier this week. I found it to be a resounding disappointment - the film is cinematically beautiful but largely void of substance. Basically you have a ho-hum love triangle that has an ending that reminded me of Reservoir Dogs sans the character development or drama.
I felt Yimou Zhang’s Hero was a much better example of the genre.
I’ve been sick as a dog since last week so I haven’t had time to do much of anything other than work, sleep, and feel generally shitty. Earlier in the week my car elected to have a flat while I was driving - leaving me with the joy of changing it out in the rain which I’m sure was great for my overall health. Heather, being the great wife she is, has put up with my complaining for the last several days and has taken care of me. I’m finally starting to feel better today just in time to catch up on all the 1001 things we need to get done before my in-laws arrive tomorrow evening.
I’m typing this from my my my new 12″ iBook
My Sony VAIO is in the shop again with another screen problem so I decided to sell it (once it is fixed) and take the plunge and get a Mac. Before I bought the Sony I toyed with the idea of getting a Powerbook instead, however, I elected to stick with the more familiar PC. In hindsight I made the wrong decision - OS X is a joy to use and the hardware is simply rock solid. So far my only complaint was that I had to wait a week to get it because for some silly reason Apple makes integrated Bluetooth a build-to-order option only.
I was impressed that it worked out of the box with my Nokia 3650 smartphone. This was a welcome change from the jacking around I had to do to get it to pair up with my PC. It figures that Apple would release a new version of iLife today, hopefully they will be cool about giving me a free upgrade since I purchased my iBook last week.
Now I just need to find some other cool Mac OS X software to use.
I was searching the web tonight to see if I could find some information on when the third season of Showtime’s Dead Like Me would air. Unfortunately it looks like it won’t be returning for a third season. Bastards!

I find this a huge disappointment as it was one of the few shows on television I truly looked forward to watching every week. I thought it managed to be poignant and entertaining at the same time. While the second season finale wasn’t a cliff hanger it did leave a number of plot threads dangling. I still wonder what the writers had in mind for Crystal, there seemed to be a lot of hints throughout the two seasons that she was also a reaper or something along those lines. Oh well I guess I’ll never know.
It pisses me off when I start to get interested in a series it seems to get canceled. Showtime better not go and cancel Bullshit! too or I’ll be pissed.
Tonight I came across WP Hashcash which is an improvement (evolution ?) of Matt’s stopgap spam solution that I had been using previously. Hopefully it will help reduce the occasional annoyance of comment spam.
