things to do in Portland
I love living in Portland because there is never a lack of something interesting to do / see. Last night Heather and I caught the “Suicide Saturday” burlesque show at Devils Point in SE Portland. It featured performances by a few of the SuicideGirls, including the lovely Stormy. Devils Point was clean, couples friendly, and didn’t have a cover / drink minimum.

Constantine
I went and saw Constantine on Friday. I liked the film but after viewing it I can’t help but wonder why it was so unremarkable. The premise and characters were interesting but the film plods along and seemed to me very cookie cutter in its execution. Taken as a whole the film was not remarkably dramatic, action packed, scary, packed full of special effects, or intriguing. The absence of one or more of these qualities is why I found it dull - the director had a great world to explore but ultimately produced a superficial and predictable treatment of it. I liked the acting and the atmosphere but there wasn’t too much else to enjoy here. I thought the Order was a much more interesting example of a religiously themed intrigue movie.
to Heather
I’d like to take a moment to wish a happy Valentines Day to Heather, the woman who is sweet enough to look past my faults, accept me for the person I am, and takes time to be silly with me.

I don’t need Hallmark to arbitrarily choose a day in order to remind me of the fact that every day I spend with you is special.
I love you sweetie!
doorstops
This morning I saw this headline on DSLR about someone who is trying to pass off an old DirecTV DSL gateway on eBay as a “collectors item” for the rather absurd opening price of $1500. I can’t help wonder what the Telocity (which later became DirecTV broadband in 2001) branded gateway sitting in a box in my garage would fetch.
This weekend I should go purge some of those tech doorstops that have accumulated in my garage.
screen spanning on the iBook G4
For some odd reason my iBook G4 doesn’t support screen spanning out of the box. Apparently disabling this feature is a way for Apple to differentiate their consumer line from their professional line. Fortunately, Screen Spanning Doctor makes it simple to adjust the Open Firmware to enable this feature.
Now I’m running with my 12″ iBook hooked up to my 19″ Samsung LCD. Kick ass! ![]()
