Normally I am not a fan of Internet memes; however, in the spirit of reflecting on the year-that-was I’ll answer these questions I saw over at my sister’s livejournal.
01. What did you do in 2005 that you’d never done before?
Fathered a child.
02. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions?
Looking back at my list I am about 50/50.
03. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not yet. Aria should be joining our ranks in the spring.
04. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
05. What countries did you visit?
None, but I did travel quite a bit domestically in 2005.
06. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Better health.
07. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The month of July since this is when Aria was conceived.
08. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Becoming a father.
09. What was your biggest “failure”?
Not following through on being healthier.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Despite my reputation as a walking human calamity I made it through 2005 unharmed.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new ride is pretty cool. My iBook would make a close runner up.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Heather for putting up with me despite my idiosyncrasies throughout 2005.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The growing religious fundamentalism and associated intolerance in this country.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Taxes & the mortgage.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to Vegas and seeing Nine Inch Nails.

Nope - pretty equal in the hate department.

Non-fiction: The 10 Minute Manager
Fiction: Idoru
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Seeing System of a Down play live in Portland. They rocked!
28. What did you want and get?
Too many things to list. 2005 was a very good good year for Heather and I.
29. What did you want and not get?
Castlevania for the Nintendo DS.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Aristocrats.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 27 this year. As is our tradition I ended up wearing a silly balloon hat.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
2005 was really good to me so it is hard to say. I guess following through on my resolution to be in better shape.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Comfortable. Fuck the fashion industry!
34. What kept you sane?
My lack of insanity. I chalk it up to my sense of humor.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None really jump to mind. Kate was pretty cute back when she had a few more stones.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The pandering of our politicians to the fundamentalist Christian zealots and their associated horseshit views.
37. Who did you miss?
My friend Jonah.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
No one specific stands out.

You can’t always do things yourself.
