SiriusMac 2.0 Release

Version 2 of SiriusMac – the best damn Sirius satellite radio player for the Mac – was released to the public tonight. You can go fetch a copy here. It fixes all of the shortcomings of version 1.x and includes an all new UI and a “mac-like” drag and drop install. I’ve been beta testing it for several weeks and it faithfully mimics all of the features you would expect from an actual Sirius tuner. It also fixes my biggest annoyance from version 1.x – it now has volume control within the application using code I contributed :)

Congratulations to VizualMenace on the release!

StarPlayr

Goodtime recently posted a UI preview of his StarPlayr (formerly SOX) Sirius radio player application for the Mac. It is planned for release in 2008 – I’m looking forward to running it through its paces and seeing how it compares to Sirius Mac.

Testing Sirius Mac 2

Siriusmac2

It works slick! The install is now “mac-like” with none of the manual steps that were required by 1.x. The only dependancy the it has is Apple’s X11 package, but after talking to VizualMenace I’m pretty sure that can be removed in a future release.

A general beta should be available in the next few days. Be sure to go donate and show some support for good Mac software.
