FlipShare and Snow Leopard

Pure Digital has an updated release of their FlipShare application that is Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) compatible. The Mac download link at the Pure Digital site still offers the old version; however, support was nice enough to provide me a download link for version 4.5.1 when I asked for it.

You can grab a copy of the .dmg here.

  1. Jon, my friend,

this version 4.5.1. you have up here still doesn’t work on Snow Leopard and the folks at PureDigital are just plain dumb … any other idea?

  2. What doesn’t work?

The 4.5.1 version seems to work fine for me on both 10.6.0 and now on 10.6.1.

  3. This worked for me … thx to google for indexing and you for posting. saved me some time since Flip doesn’t care to update their site with Snow Leopard information. It’s kind of sad… they are on the way out.

  4. Is there anything special you have to do?

Running SNow Leopard, I get an error that flipshare can’t communicate with my camera. It sees it when I plug in because it says it wants to upgrade, but then it pukes.

I had a movie on it, and when I hit ok, the movie (still on the camera, found thru finder) didn’t show up in flip share.

  5. Wow! I had to reformat to snow leopard and since FlipShare didn’t come with me, and the other flipshare install file just crashed, this is great! You really saved me a lot of time! I thought I was going to have to email them!

Just got 4.5.1 from the support team at Flip. Didn’t work b/c I still can’t launch videos in my iphoto 08 events. I’m seeing the video but nothing happens when I click.

  7. @Mark

I have iPhoto ’09 (8.x) on my Mac so I can’t say if 4.5.1 works correctly with ’08 or not. Assuming you have the 3vix codec installed and working (its bundled with FlipShare) your videos should work properly – did you check to see if you somehow disabled that codec in Quicktime?

  8. I was on the phone with Flip for half an hour the other day trying to resolve the flipshare download issue…I could have save time if I would have thought to google the issue first! This worked like a dream…thank you so much.

  9. Glad to hear it helped. FlipShare 5 has been out for a while now and seems to work just fine with Snow Leopard.

  10. thank you so much! I could not get my Flip to load onto my new mac, it just said “please wait” for hours… This seems to have fixed it-miracle, thanks!

  11. Yep! Downloaded the old version…. completely uninstalled the new one, plugged in the Flip and – well – it loaded the version off the clip succesfully and runs fine. I had contacted the Flip support site and they were supposed to answer within 4 hours. That was 11 hours ago…… RUBBISH SERVICE, FLIP!!!!!!
