Rural?

Apparently Verizon thinks Beaverton, OR is rural.

As one of the 110,000 effected FiOS Internet/TV customers I’m curious (and afraid) to how Frontier will handle the transition. Sadly it will probably be another ankle grab similar to how DirecTV handled me after Telocity self-destructed. The shame is that I’m really happy with both my current video & data services – the eventual rate hikes and decrease in features/service will surely chase me away. I guess the bright side is that it looks like I won’t need to start shopping for a new ISP until the end of the year at the earliest.

Like being back in Milwaukee

The view from outside my house this morning:

This is the most snow I’ve ever seen on the ground in Beaverton. Needless to say I don’t plan on going anywhere on Monday.

RIP Coffee People

The news of the acquisition of Coffee People by Starbucks makes me sad as my favorite local coffee chain is going to be converted into Starbucks stores. I will miss both the Black Tiger coffee and the free Wi-Fi :(

Cold Comedy Concoction

Last Sunday we had the opportunity to see our friends Erin and Nate act in Stark Raving Theater’s 2nd annual Cold Comedy Concoction. It is made up of four one-act comedies which were all quite funny. In case a night of comedy isn’t enough to pique your interest in local theater it is worth noting that one of the plays features some boobies – so get out and support Portland theater. You won’t be disappointed.

The show runs through January 14th.
