October
I can’t believe it is October already. In keeping with tradition Heather and I went out to Suave Island to go find some pumpkins. Photographic evidence of the event can be found here.
I also got around to updating our photo gallery to Gallery 2.0. I have to give the development team major kudos as the both the upgrade and import process were surprisingly painless.
Trip Photos
All the photos we took on our vacation last week can be found in my photo gallery here. I really could use a better digital camera (and some photography skills) but at least the Crater Lake shots turned out well.
Vegas recap
Heather and I had an absolute blast over the last few days in Las Vegas.
The Nine Inch Nails show on Saturday was awesome. The Joint is a great concert venue since it is so small - Trent and the band kicked ass. Sunday night we caught the Penn & Teller show at the Rio. It was cool and after the show both Penn & Teller were cool enough to hang around and sign autographs for fans. It was kinda weird to hear Teller talk to me when I asked to pose for a picture with him. Probably the most amusing WTF!?! moment of the trip was seeing Ron Jeremy at the Rio. We bumped into him after the Penn & Teller show. He was nice enough to pose for a picture and sign an autograph.
We also managed to get a healthy amount of gambling in as well and visited quite a few of the casinos on the strip. We even took a detour on Monday morning to drop by the Library for a few hours which was a lot of fun.
I finally managed to unfubar my web server tonight so I was able to get all my moblog posted. Apparently there is a bug in the latest Gentoo PHP & PEAR ebuilds. Once I unload our digital cameras I’ll get the remainder of our trip pictures posted to the gallery.
Overall it was a kick ass birthday present! ![]()

Life in pictures
Japanese Garden photos
I finally got around to unloading our digital camera and posted the various photos Heather and I took while visiting Portland’s Japanese Garden back on our anniversary. I love living in a city like Portland where there are so many interesting places like this to visit.

The photos can be found here. The earlier set can be found here.
Fireworks
This year we again went up to Fort Vancouver to see the Fourth of July fireworks display. We ended up with much better seats this year and enjoyed the show.

The pictures we took can be found here.
Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection Photos
I posted all of the pictures I took last Sunday while visiting the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection. The collection is an outdoor museum that is open to the public free of charge. We happened across it while returning from our vacation in Seattle. After visiting I am definitely interested in learning more about bonsai and perhaps getting involved in the hobby.
The gallery can be viewed here.
Linux World 2003 wrap-up
I had a fantastic time attending the Linux World Expo & Levanta Customer council last week. While I was there I got the opportunity to meet a ton of smart people, talk about Linux on z/Series, partake in some fun activities (a Giants game, a cruise on the bay, and afternoon of sail boating), and enjoy numerous Jack & Cokes. The crew from Linuxcare were great hosts and definitely knew how to party. I’m looking forward to next year
The pictures we took during the week can be found here.
